Visual Advocacy--> Brainstorming Solutions

Students

How do you address the issue without directly talking about it?

Students are NOT ready to listen, how do you ge them ready?

What is already being done? Can/ how do we fill the gap?


**For some students, the transition between 8th/9th grade is rough, and they consider dropping out around this time.


School supplies with info that relates to what they are studying in school

-notebooks
-notepads
-binders
-folders


Share stories from people who have dropped out (not been successful) and people who have stayed in school (been successful) **Emphasizes the importance of staying in school.

-video
-speaker program
-workbooks
-advisory groups-meet after lectures and discuss?

-info packets received at the beginning of school with information about supportive people at the school if the student is having academic/emotional difficulties.


Program to help students who are transitioning from middle school to high school

-differences
-How they can be better prepared
-What to do if they feel they are having trouble either academically or emotionally (workbooks/advisory groups may tie in).
