-lack of emotional connection to school/environment
-school i boring (uninspiring teachers)-> unmotivated
-academic/personal challenges (become a parent/need to help family)
For most students dropping out is not a sudden act, but a gradual process of disengagement
-attendance patterns are a warning sign
-not enough rules/ too much freedom
